This Privacy Policy applies, as relevant, to visitors, registered users, newsletter subscribers, contributors and persons whose personal data appear in documents made available through UPC.wiki.

2. PERSONAL DATA COLLECTED
CASALONGA may collect and process personal data relating to persons who create or use an account, subscribe to the newsletter, contact CASALONGA, contribute to UPC.wiki or otherwise use the platform.
Depending on the functionalities used, such data may include identification and contact information, such as your name, email address, username, professional information and any profile information you choose to provide.
When using a personal account, UPC.wiki may also process information associated with your use of the platform, including favourites, saved decisions, collections, folders, notes, highlights, preferences and research or viewing history.
Technical information necessary for the operation and security of the platform may also be processed, including IP addresses, browser or device information, authentication events, error information and security logs.
CASALONGA limits the personal data it processes to what is relevant and necessary in relation to the purposes pursued.
3. PURPOSES AND LEGAL GROUNDS
Personal data may be processed by CASALONGA for the following purposes:
- creating, administering and securing user accounts;
- providing the functionalities and personal workspace available through UPC.wiki;
- allowing users to organise, save and retrieve their legal research;
- responding to requests, correspondence and support enquiries;
- operating, maintaining and securing the platform and preventing unauthorised use;
- managing newsletter subscriptions and other communications requested by users;
- complying with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
Depending on the purpose pursued, the legal grounds for processing are:
- the performance of the service requested by the user pursuant to Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, in particular for the creation and operation of a UPC.wiki account and its associated functionalities;
- the user's prior consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, in particular where the user subscribes to the newsletter;
- CASALONGA's legitimate interests pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, in particular in operating, securing and improving UPC.wiki and providing access to legal information; and
- compliance with a legal obligation pursuant to Article 6(1)(c) GDPR where applicable.
Personal data may be accessed by authorised persons within CASALONGA and, where necessary, by service providers acting on its behalf for hosting, email delivery, authentication, technical operation or other services necessary for UPC.wiki.
Where the use of a service involves the processing of personal data outside the European Economic Area, CASALONGA ensures that the transfer is carried out in accordance with the safeguards provided for by the GDPR.
CASALONGA does not sell personal data to advertisers.
4. ACCOUNT, PERSONAL WORKSPACE AND LINKEDIN SIGN-IN
Certain functionalities of UPC.wiki require a personal account.
Information contained in your personal workspace, including favourites, collections, folders, notes, highlights and research history, is processed in order to provide the corresponding functionalities.
Your personal workspace is not intended to be published or made available to other users, except where a specific sharing functionality expressly provides otherwise. This does not prevent access by authorised persons where technically necessary for the operation, maintenance, support or security of UPC.wiki.
If you choose to sign in to UPC.wiki using LinkedIn, LinkedIn may provide UPC.wiki with the information necessary to authenticate you and create or connect your account, such as your name, email address and authentication identifier, depending on the permissions presented to you.
UPC.wiki does not thereby obtain access to your private LinkedIn messages or contacts.
LinkedIn processes personal data under its own responsibility in accordance with its own privacy policy and terms of use.
5. NEWSLETTER
Subscription to the UPC.wiki newsletter is separate from the creation of a UPC.wiki account.
Where you subscribe, CASALONGA may process your email address, preferred language, subscription status and information necessary to manage and document your subscription.
The newsletter is sent on the basis of your consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
Each newsletter provides a means of unsubscribing. You may withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal.
CASALONGA may use a specialised email service provider for the technical delivery and management of newsletters.
6. LEGAL CORPUS AND AI-ASSISTED PROCESSING
UPC.wiki contains a documentary corpus relating to the Unified Patent Court, including decisions, orders, procedural information and associated editorial content.
These documents may contain personal data concerning parties, representatives, judges, experts or other persons involved in or mentioned in proceedings.
Such information is processed in pursuit of CASALONGA's legitimate interest in providing, organising and facilitating access to legal information, pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, subject to the rights of the persons concerned and to any applicable restrictions concerning publication or reuse.
Certain operations involved in the preparation, summarisation, translation, classification, indexing, extraction, cross-referencing or presentation of documentary content may be assisted by artificial intelligence technologies.
Documents, extracts or editorial material may therefore be processed using technical tools or service providers for these purposes.
These tools are used to assist documentary and editorial work. They are not intended to make solely automated decisions concerning individuals that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects.
AI-assisted content remains a research and editorial aid and must be distinguished from the underlying source documents.
If information concerning you contained in the UPC.wiki corpus is inaccurate, requires updating or you consider that its processing infringes your rights, you may contact CASALONGA and identify the relevant document, reference and passage.
CASALONGA will assess such requests in light of the rights of the person concerned, the source document, the documentary purpose of UPC.wiki and any applicable legal requirements or restrictions.
7. DATA RETENTION AND SECURITY
CASALONGA retains personal data only for the period necessary for the purpose for which they are processed.
Account and personal workspace data are retained for as long as necessary to provide the corresponding services. Where an account is deleted, associated personal data are deleted or anonymised, subject to information that may need to be retained temporarily for security purposes, compliance with legal obligations or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Newsletter subscription data are retained for as long as the subscription remains active. Following an unsubscribe request, information necessary to respect and document that choice may be retained for the period necessary for those purposes.
Technical, security, support and correspondence data are retained only for the period necessary for the relevant operational, security or legal purposes.
Personal data contained in the legal corpus may be retained for as long as the relevant documents remain necessary for the documentary and legal information purposes pursued by UPC.wiki, subject to applicable rights and publication restrictions.
Personal data may also be archived where required by applicable law or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. Data that have been irreversibly anonymised may be retained for statistical, documentary or analytical purposes.
CASALONGA implements appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and security of the personal data it processes and to protect them against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or destruction.
8. COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
UPC.wiki may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences and the proper operation of the functionalities requested by users.
Where the use of a cookie or similar technology requires prior consent under applicable law, it is activated only in accordance with the user's choices.
Further information concerning the technologies used and the available choices is provided on the Cookies and Privacy page.
9. YOUR RIGHTS
In accordance with applicable data protection law and subject to the conditions provided by the GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right of access, rectification and erasure: you may obtain access to personal data concerning you and request that inaccurate data be corrected or, where applicable, erased;
- Right to restriction of processing: you may request the restriction of the processing of your personal data in the circumstances provided by law;
